Most failed concrete in this region fails for the same reasons: a base that wasn't compacted properly, a slab poured too thin, or no control joints to direct where it cracks. Freeze-thaw cycling does the rest. Water gets into the surface, freezes, expands, and lifts the concrete apart over a few seasons.
We prepare the base before anything gets poured, granular fill compacted in layers, graded so water runs away from the house rather than pooling against the foundation. Slabs are poured to the right thickness for their use, with control joints cut where cracks would naturally want to form, so the concrete cracks along a straight line you barely notice instead of randomly across the middle.

What affects the cost of a concrete driveway or patio
Every quote is different. These are the factors that move the number most, so you know what we're looking at during the site visit.
Square footage
The single biggest factor. A single-car driveway and a wide double with a turnaround are very different pours.
Removal of what's there now
Breaking out and hauling away an old concrete or asphalt driveway adds labour and disposal that a fresh pour on bare ground doesn't.
Base preparation and grading
If the existing base is poor or the site needs regrading to move water away from the house, that work happens before any concrete arrives.
Finish type
A standard broom finish costs less than exposed aggregate or a stamped decorative finish, which need more material and more time on site.
Thickness and reinforcement
A driveway that will hold a heavy truck needs more depth and reinforcement than a garden walkway.
Site access
How close the truck can get to the pour matters. Long wheelbarrow runs or pumping add time and cost.
